Red Market is at 13 East 13th Street, Floor 2 — between Fifth Avenue and University Place. From the heart of the West Village that is a ten-minute walk straight east along 13th, or a couple of minutes on the L from Eighth Avenue to Union Square. No transfer, no crosstown bus.
The West Village is where a lot of our longest-standing guests live, and the reason is usually continuity. It is a neighborhood of people who keep the same coffee place for a decade, and color works the same way: the same colorist, your formula on file, a result that picks up where the last appointment left off.
Color built for low maintenance
Every balayage here is painted freehand — no foils, no off-the-shelf formula. Because the lightening is hand-placed where the sun would naturally catch it, there is no hard regrowth line, so you get months between appointments instead of weeks. For anyone who would rather not schedule their life around a root touch-up, that is the whole point.
Owner and master colorist Reynald Ricard trained in France and brought French color technique from Paris to downtown Manhattan in the early 2000s. Every color service opens with a complimentary consultation before anyone picks up a brush.
